kachumbar raita
Indian meals are often accompanied by Raita, a yoghurt-based side dish that is healthy and delicious. This version is made with kachumbar, a quintessential North Indian salad containing chopped cucumber, tomato, onion and cilantro. One of our favorite raitas, it is a perfect accompaniment to dishes made with Masala Mama’s TIKKA MASALA and VINDALOO Sauce!
Serves 4
1 small red onion, diced
6 grape tomatoes, quartered
1 Persian cucumber, diced
1 small bunch fresh cilantro, chopped (about 1/4 cup {10g})
2 cups (490g) plain yogurt
1 pinch salt
1 pinch roasted ground cumin seeds
1 pinch red chili powder (optional)
1 pinch sugar
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Adjust the salt to taste. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
