Crossfit South Brooklyn Cooks with Masala Mama
I will host a cooking class for my Crossfit South Brooklyn community on July 3 at 6:30 pm and teach how to make Roasted Magic Cauliflower and Masala Dal.
I created a custom CFSBK Spice Pack for the class that includes samples of the following spices:
1. MAGIC CURRY POWDER Spice blend
Our take on traditional Indian "curry powder" magically transforms any dish. Add it to any Indian curry, or try it as a meat rub, or tossed with cauliflower or broccoli and roasted, or even sprinkled on popcorn. You'll soon see why we call it magic!
INGREDIENTS: Coriander, cumin, red chilli, turmeric, black pepper.
2. MASALA DAL Spice Blend
Great for any lentil or beans dishes. Also good with vegetables. It’s turmeric heavy and a little spicy so use sparingly.
INGREDIENTS: Turmeric, red chilli, coriander, asafoetida, Garam Masala. Contains: Wheat.
3. MIXED WHOLE SPICES
This is added at the end when making a Dal (lentil dish)—the whole spices are sizzled for a few seconds in hot oil and added immediately to the Dal to infuse it with flavor and aroma.
INGREDIENTS: Cumin seeds, Bay leaves, whole red chilli.
